KLM Royal Dutch Airlines: Amsterdam–Batavia Service

This 1934 colour lithograph is an advertising map for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, tracing its air route between Amsterdam and Batavia (present-day Jakarta) across a global view of the world, by way of cities including London, Cairo, Karachi, Calcutta, Singapore and Medan. Coloured lines distinguish KLM's routes from connecting and rival services, an airplane illustration crowns the design, and an inscription notes the distance as "1/3 of the Earth's circumference." In this edition the original "Weekly Service" line has been overprinted and replaced with "Twice Weekly Service."
