The Mariso Camp

The Mariso camp, also known as the ''Bamboo camp,'' situated in Makassar South on Celebes, served as a prisoner of war camp primarily for KNIL and Allies. Constructed similarly to the actual Kampong Makassar, confusion arose due to their resemblance and identical subdivision, occasionally leading to misunderstandings. It was often referred to as a "Work crew heading into town."
