Rebel!
An Indonesian soldier faces two adversaries, a Dutchman and his Indonesian accomplice, both of whom have profited from the war. Above whom the word "berontak" (rebel) is written, marking them as enemies of independence the army would punish for exploiting the chaos. The soldier's beret is torn and patched, a reflection of the period's uniform shortages, when the Indonesian government struggled to equip its troops. Those visible stitches set his hardship against the wealth of the Dutch and their accomplices, framing Indonesia's enemies as deserving of harsh punishment.
