Peta

The Volunteer Army for the Defense of the Homeland (Peta) was established on October 3, 1943, by the Japanese Military Government to serve its interests in the Greater East Asia War. Initiated by Lieutenant General Kumakichi Harada, Peta sought Indonesian leadership, notably Gatot Mangkupradja, to organize Indonesian troops. Its purpose was to defend against Allied forces, opposing Japan at the time. (Budiarto, 2021)
