Needlecraft May 1931

First published in September 1909 and running until the Second World War, Needlecraft was a magazine known for its line-drawn handwork patterns and its illustrated covers. This May 1931 issue carries a cover by John Edwin Jackson depicting Java, with three women dressed in batik against a batik-cloth background. Its editor, Margaret Barton Manning, described the publication as devoted entirely to practical needlecraft for personal and household use.
