Monster Alliance

This political cartoon satirizes a demonstration held at the Binnenhof in The Hague, where protestors march under banners reading “Away with Suharto!”, “Suharto murderer”, and “Rights for Papuans”. The figures represent Dutch politicians Piet Jongeling, Fred van der Spek, Cornelis van Dis Sr., and Marcus Bakker, ironically united across political lines. The banner “Through the Centuries, Loyalty!”, a reference to the foundation Through the Centuries Faithful, adds a layer of critique against hypocritical alliances.
