Malino – Your Task

This Dutch propaganda poster, titled “Malino – Your Task”, was produced in connection with the Malino Conference held from July 15–25, 1946. The conference, organized by Lieutenant Governor General Hubertus van Mook, introduced Dutch plans to create a federal Indonesia composed of various states, as a counterbalance to the Republic of Indonesia proclaimed in 1945. Attended by 39 Indonesian delegates from nineteen regions (excluding Java and Sumatra), the meeting was presented as a step toward order and protection against “chaos,” Japanese militarism, and the Republican fighters.
