Hideop Asia Raja

This is a propaganda poster illustrated by Saseo Ono, created circa 1943–1945 during Japan's occupation of Indonesia. The illustration depicts local people joyfully welcoming the Imperial Japanese Army, under a bright sky filled with balloons bearing the phrase “Hidoep Asia Raja”, a stylized form of Hidup Asia Raya, or “Long Live Greater Asia.” This reflects Japan’s vision of a united and prosperous Asia under its leadership, while simultaneously minimizing any reporting of Japanese war atrocities.
