“Hallo! Bandoeng!”
Published between 1930–1934, Hallo! Bandoeng! is a musical piece made popular by Dutch singer Willy Derby. The song celebrates the technological milestone of establishing a long-distance telephone connection between the Netherlands and Indonesia via radio telephony. At the time, the transmitter and receiver in Indonesia were located on Mount Malabar near Bandung—hence the song's title.
