This issue of the satirical magazine De Notenkraker (Vol. 1, No. 46) features a powerful cover illustration by Albert Hahn. The cartoon portrays Minister of Colonies Dirk Fock standing atop a mound of murdered Acehnese civilians, a direct critique of Dutch brutality during the Aceh War. The magazine’s title features a decorative “D” shaped like a nutcracker’s head, reinforcing its biting satirical tone.
