3½ Tahoen
A propaganda poster created by Poesat Tenaga Peloekis Indonesia (P.T.P.I) in 1945 for the Indonesian proclamation of freedom on August 17, 1945, features an illustration of a Japanese soldier, identified by the iconic star symbol on his cap ("Ryaku-bou"), in the upper left corner, and a struggling man in the lower left corner. Bold red text diagonally across the center reads “3½ Tahoen,” means 3.5 years of Japanese colonization. This image portrays the exploitation and suffering endured by the Indonesian people under Japanese rule. This poster is part of a scrapbook titled "We Struggle with Posters (P.T.P.I.)," which contains reduced reproductions of P.T.P.I. posters from 1945-1947.
