3½ Abad

A propaganda poster created by Poesat Tenaga Peloekis Indonesia (P.T.P.I) in 1945 for the Indonesian proclamation of freedom on August 17, 1945, features an illustration of a Dutch man holding a sword behind his back and a carrot on a stick with a "Gld" (gulden) at the end, mimicking the carrot-and-stick idiom. He is riding a cart pulled by Indonesian people, with "3½ Abad" written below, signifying the 3.5 centuries of Dutch colonization. This image represents how the Dutch exploited Indonesian people for their labor with “promises” of wealth.
